One of the most important skills of the 21st century is computer skills. Some of the
Youth Corners leaders told us that most of the participants had no training in computer use. These young men developed, as volunteers, a computer training program for select members of each of the Youth Corners. The Grant began funding this wildly successful training.
Self Help Group members saw computer skills as helpful to them and requested that they too be included in the training. In three years, over 1300 participants received basic computer training and had access to the computers to practice their skills.
For the women this training enabled them to keep their books electronically, open Facebook and email accounts to stay in touch with family members around the world.
Graduation is a special day. Computer training certificates help women get jobs.
Women's Class Members Practice as often as possible. Trainers are available at most Corners to help re-inforce skills.
Volunteers work with kids as well. Everyone wanted to learn how to use the computer.
Computer Training began with a week-long class, followed by 13 weeks of additional training.
Graduation is a family affair. Caps and gowns and photos make it special.
